Stockholm is beautiful at any time but if you really can choose then come during the summer (wink wink to all my friends that haven't visited yet). I got to experience my first Swedish summer last year and I can tell you, it's amazing. The days are longer (or basically there is no night), most of the time the sun is shining and believe me everything looks so much better in the sunshine. Stockholm is a perfect city for spending the summer because it consists of these small islands and you can go swimming basically anywhere. But that's not the only fun thing to do here.
I'm not going to make a list of typical tourist places that you can easily google or look up on trip advisor because I don't think those are always the places worth to see.
Let me now show you "my Stockholm" and my favorite spots and activities in this amazing city:
Štokholm v mojom srdci - ide o refrén jednej piesne, ale opisuje aj môj vzťah k tomuto mestu. Dlho mi trvalo rozhodnúť sa, o čom písať v mojom prvom blogovom poste. Nakoniec som sa rozhodla pre mesto, ktoré už takmer rok nazývam domovom. Prvý krát som Štokholm navštívila s mojimi rodičmi v októbri 2014, kedy som ešte študovala na škole uprostred ničoty nedaľeko Göteborgu (teda cca).
Štokholm je krásny za každého ročného obdobia, ale pokiaľ si naozaj môžete vybrať, vyberte si leto (narážka na mojich kamarátov, ktorí ma ešte nenavštívili). Prvé pravé švédske leto som zažila minulý rok a naozaj môžem zaručiť, že je naj. Dni sú dlhšie (teda vlastne noc neexistuje), väčšinou svieti slnko a všetko vyzerá oveľa krajšie. Navyše sú tu tie malé ostrovčeky, z ktorých Štokholm pozostáva, a tak je kúpanie možné takmer všade. Ale kúpanie nie je to jediné, čo sa tu dá robiť.
Nejdem robiť klasický tripadvisor zoznam klasických turistických pamiatok, ktoré treba vidieť, pretože to si môžete jednoducho vygúgliť. Ukážem vám Štokholm, ako ho vnímam ja :)
1) Monteliusvägen, Skinnarviksberget, Gondolen... aka "The Views"
I'm pretty obsessed with sunsets (sunrises too but let's be real - I'm not deliberately waking up for that) and therefore I always try to find the perfect view point to watch the sunsets from. It can be a bar, a hill, a building, somebody's shoulders -pretty much anything. That's why I'm so glad that Stockholm offers so many amazing spots to watch the sunset or just chill and eat icecream while watching the skyline.
Monteliusvägen is a tiny street that offers a perfect view over the Old Town and is perfect for a little picnic (of course only in case the temperature is above 0 degrees).
Skinnarviksberget is not far away from Monteliusvägen and is usually filled with young people playing the guitar, singing or just discussing the meaning of life.
1) Vyhliadky ako Monteliusvägen, Skinnarviksberget či Gondolen
Keďže milujem západy slnka (aj východy, ale kto by už len kvôli nim vstával), preto sa vždy snažím nájsť najlepšie vyhliadky.
Monteliusvägen je jednou z mojich obľúbených, s krásnym výhľadom na staré mesto a piknikovými stolmi, ktoré samozrejme využijete len ak sa teplota vyšplhá nad 0.
Skinnarviksberget sa nachádza nedaľeko Monteliusvägen a zvyčajne tu ľudia posedávajú, hrajú na gitare alebo len tak diskutujú o nesmrteľnosti chrústa.
After crawling up the staircase (at least in my case) to Gondolen you will be offered an amazing view - in this case, you'll see a bit farther than the Old Town. This is unfortunately not a perfect place for picnicking or playing the guitar but the view is definitely worth it.
Keď sa preplazíte schodmi ku Gondolen, naskytne sa vám nádherný výhľad na celé mesto (dokonca aj ďalej ako staré mesto). Bohužiaľ nejde o najlepšie miesto na piknik alebo hranie na gitare (tu by sa vám asi ušlo pár začudovaných pohľadov). Výhľad ale určite stojí za to.
2) Beaches, cliffs and other gems
As I said, summer in Stockholm is amazing. I hope that at the end of this summer, this list is going to be even longer but here are some of the few places that I consider suitable for swimming (even tho I mostly prefer Miami South Beach kinda beaches with 30 degree water but for Sweden, these are good enough too). :)
No. 1 for me is Fjäderholmarna. It's one of the closest islands of the Stockholm archipelago, easily accessible by a ferry that departs from Slussen in central Stockholm. This beautiful island offers all you need - a little park to walk in, a beach/cliffs to sunbath on, water to swim in and some restaurants and cafés in case you get hungry doing all the above mentioned activities. The only minus point goes to the overprotective ducks with babies that always came to sit next to you and then got angry and started hissing every time you moved.
2) Pláže, útesy a iné poklady ostrovov
Ako som už spomínala, leto v Štokholme je skvelé. Dúfam, že koncom tohto leta bude tento zoznam oveľa dlhší - tu vám ponúkam pár miest,ktoré považujem vhodné na kúpanie (aj keď ja mám radšej takú tú Miami Beach 30-stupňovú vodu, ale aj toto ujde). :)
Číslom jeden je pre mňa určite ostrov Fjäderholmarna. Ide o jeden z najbližšie položených ostrovčekov štokholmského súostrovia, na ktorý sa ľahko dostanete ľodou zo Slussenu v centre Štokholmu. Tento krásny ostrov ponúka všetko, čo sa vám len zažiada - od parku cez pláž až po kaviarne a reštaurácie, kde si po všetkých letných aktivitách môžete dobiť baterky. Jediným mínusom boli kačice, ktoré si vždy sadli čo najbližšie k nám, a potom na nás syčali a chránili svoje mladé.
Another good one although pretty crowded is Smedsuddsbadet. Sandy beach makes you almost feel like you're somewhere exotic. Almost.
Ďalším vhodným miestom na kúpanie je určite Smedsuddsbadet. Trochu preľudnený, najmä v letných mesiacoch, ale piesková pláž vás takmer presvedčí, že ide o exotickú destináciu. Takmer.
Our recent discovery is Tantostranden. Very close to the city - you can literally walk from the central station. Water was freakishly cold but let's be real - it literally snowed like two weeks ago.
Naším najnovším objavom je Tantostranden, pešo na dosah od hlavnej stanice. Voda bola síce na mňa až moc studená, ale odpúšťam jej to, keďže tu len pred asi dvoma týždňami snežilo.
3) My favorite "hoods"
Visiting Stockholm without visiting Gamla Stan (Old Town) should be the eight deadly sin. I think it's a place to be especially during long winter nights when the sun goes down at 2 pm (so basically before you even climb out of the bed). Cozy cafés and narrow streets make you feel like you went back in time. My tip for those that like a bit excitement in their life and want to experience the Old Town in a different way is to check out the Stockholm Ghost Walk (Spökvandring). Don't worry it's not as scary as it sounds, for us it was mostly fun and we've learned a lot about the history of Stockholm's Old Town in a funny and interactive way.
My other favorite part of Stockholm is Södermalm - a hipster's paradise. Take a walk along the water on Katarinavägen, visit Fotografiska, have "fika" at bacically any café there is or go out at Medborgarsplatsen are only some of the activities you can do here.
3) Moje obľúbené štvrte
Navštíviť Štokholm bez toho, aby ste videli jeho staré mesto (Gamla Stan) je akoby ste tu ani neboli. Ja osobne tu rada trávim chladné zimné večery, keď slnko zapadne asi o 2 poobede (čiže pomaly ešte predtým, ako sa stihnete vytrepať z postele). Útulné kaviarničky a úzke uličky pôsobia akoby boli ešte z minulého storočia. Pre tých, ktorí majú radi dobrodružstvo odporúčam Stockholm Ghost Walk (strašidelná prechádzka mestom). Nie je to až také strašidelné, ale hlavne ide o zaujímavý spôsob, ako sa dozvedieť niečo o histórii mesta.
Södermalm patrí tiež k jednej z mojich obľúbených štvrtí a ide o raj hipsterov. Prechádzka popri vode na Katarinavägen, návšteva múzea fotografie Fotografika, "fika" v jednej z útulných kaviarní, či párty v jednom z podnikov na Medborgarsplatsen je len útržkom aktivít, ktoré táto štvrť ponúka.
Djurgården is a place to be no matter what the weather is like - visit Skansen (the first real "skansen" = open air museum in the world), ABBA the Museum, amusement park Gröna Lund (during the summer there are plenty of concerts here as well), or just wander around the huge park - we basically got lost and ended up in the middle of the woods. For "fika" (=coffee and pastry) lovers, there is a beautiful garden café Rosendals trädgården.
Even tho not really Stockholm anymore (but literally a few minutes bus ride from the city center) I really enjoyed Nacka and the area around lake Järlasjön. Perfect for swimming, grilling or just chilling ;)
Djurgården je super za každého počasia - nachádza sa tu najstarší skanzen na svete Skansen, múzeum vody či ABBY, zábavný park Gröna Lund, obrovský park, kde sme sa raz stratili, ale našťastie sme potom narazili na skvelú záhradnú kaviareň Rosendals trädgården.
Nacka je už predmestím Štokholmu, aj keď cesta sem z centra mesta trvá len pár minút. Järlasjön je ale jazerom, ktoré sa oplatí vidieť.
4) Sightseeing at its best
Like I said, I didn't want this to be a "best of tripadvisor" but sightseeing and big cities go of course hand in hand.
On June 6th (National day of Sweden) we visited the Drottningholm Palace, which is the home for the Swedish royal family and also a great place to spend your day. Not only the palace itself but especially the beautiful park and the gardens made us want to come back and go swimming in the nearest lake.
4) Nejaké tie pamiatky
Aj keď ako som už spomínala, nechcem robiť top tripadvisor zoznam pamiatok, ale nejaké predsa len musím spomenúť, keďže ide o neodeliteľnú súčasť mesta. Na Deň Ústavy sme boli pozrieť zámok Drottningholm, ktorý je sídlom súčasnej kráľovskej rodiny a zároveň skvelým miedtom na strávenie pekného letného dňa.
Also a good thing to know for those of you that like culture (or at least pretend - I don't judge) is that some of the museums and galleries in Stockholm are free of charge. My personal favorite is Moderna (Museum of Modern Art), but we also visited Naturhistoriska which was pretty entertaining too. Some of the other are: Etnografiska (Museum of ethnography), Historiska (history), Armémuseum (Army museum) or Östasiatiska (East Asia).
One cold winter day when we were looking for a warm place to be - we found out about Fjärilshuset (Butterfly House) which is a real djungle with beatiful butterflies flying around you and I would really recommend you to visit it during long cold days in winter;)
There are many more places in Stockholm that I truly adore but since this post would be way too long, let me keep them for next time. Hope you enjoyed reading this and please, leave a comment if you are wondering about something:)

Pre tých, čo majú radi kultúru (alebo sa tak aspoň tvária) mám dobrú správu - niektoré zo štokholmských múzeí ponúkajú vstup zdarma. Mojím obľúbeným je Moderna museet (Múzeum moderného umenia), ale zaujímavé je aj prírodo-historické múzeum Naturhistoriska. Ďalšími sú o. i. aj: Etnografiska (Múzeum etnografie), Historiska (Múzeum histórie), Armémuseum (vojny) alebo Östasiatiska (východná Ázia).
V jeden výnimočne studený zimný večer sme sa ocitli v Fjärilshuset (doslova "Motýlí dom"), kde bolo tropické teplo a motýle poletujúce okolo nás - rozhodne niečo, čím nielen zabiť čas v zime, ale sa aj dobre zabaviť a niečo sa možno aj naučiť.
V Štokholme je oveľa viac miest, ktoré by som vám odporúčila vidieť, keď sem raz zavítate, ale o tom potom. Dúfam, že sa vám môj článok páčil a pokojne komentujte, ak máte otázky/postrehy.
